Kim Coy DeCoste, RN, MSN, CDE

Kim DeCoste is a registered nurse and certified diabetes educator.

She is the manager of the Diabetes Center of Excellence of the Madison County (KY) Health Department where a primary focus is a Medicaid demonstration project, an initiative of the Kentucky Diabetes Prevention and Control Program based on a the Chronic Care Model. She provides care coordination for people with diabetes, as well as conducts diabetes education classes, diabetes prevention classes and diabetes prevention and awareness initiatives for her community.

An AADE member for 24 years, DeCoste has been active at both the national and local levels, recently serving on AADE’s Board of Directors and many of its committees, and also serving as president of the Kentucky Association of Diabetes Educators.

Additionally, she is coordinator of the Madison County Diabetes Coalition; is chairperson of the board of Hope’s Wings Incorporated domestic violence project and emergency shelter; and is a member of the Kentucky Diabetes Network’s Statewide Coalition-Advocacy Workgroup.

DeCoste earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Nursing degrees from Eastern Kentucky University in Richmond.
