Marcia Draheim, RN, CDE

Marcia Draheim is a registered nurse and a certified diabetes educator, and recently served as AADE’s 2009 President.

Professionally, she is currently the president of Draheim Dimensional Presentations which develops computerized tools that assist diabetes educators in teaching people about diabetes and its co-morbidities.

Previous to that, she was a supervisor at St. Luke’s Hospital Diabetes Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, where she coordinated the hospital’s core curriculum diabetes program and the gestational diabetes program. She also served as a primary faculty member of the diabetes education program and was a resource for various committees within the hospital and surrounding county.

Her nursing experience is comprehensive and varied, including work in orthopedics, neurosurgery, otolaryngology, ophthalmology, gynecology, general surgery, dental and facial reconstructive surgery, head and neck cancer and infection control.

An AADE Board member since 2001, Draheim has been active with AADE since 1984. She has also been active on the local level as well, including membership in the Iowa Diabetes Educators Association and the American Diabetes Association’s Iowa Affiliate. She has also delivered many presentations at the local, state, national and international levels for a variety of healthcare organizations.
