Committees

Strategic Committees

The following committees are charged with the task of advancing the specific goals and objectives defined in the strategic plan of the Association.

Advocacy Committee

Responsible for maintaining a national network of diabetes educators to advocate and support activities that affect persons with diabetes and public policy related to diabetes education and care.

Annual Meeting Program Committee

Responsible for planning the educational programming for the Annual Meeting.

Professional Development Committee

Responsible for establishing and maintaining the structures and processes defined by continuing professional education accreditation criteria or standards; and providing member volunteer leadership and input into the planning, development, and maintenance of educational opportunities and resources that the association provides, approves, or disseminates to members, healthcare professionals, and the community.

Professional Practice Committee

Responsible for coordinating the development of position statements and monitoring existing statements to ensure timeliness and consistency with regard to AADE’s strategic direction.

Research Committee

Responsible for meeting member needs related to awareness and translation of research and evidence in professional practice; defining, planning and monitoring research initiatives in educational and behavioral areas to define and enhance the profession’s body of knowledge or evidence; and reviewing and awarding grant support for research studies from funding provided by the AADE’s Education and Research Foundation.

Governance Committees

The following committees pursue the governance and fiduciary responsibilities of the Association.

Bylaws, Policies and Procedures Committee

Responsible for recommending amendments to the Bylaws and updating the Policies and Procedures Manual based on Board decisions requiring revisions, additions, or deletions.

Finance Committee

Responsible for monitoring the organization’s financial status, overseeing preparation of the annual budget, and developing financial policies.

Nominating Committee

Responsible for presenting AADE voting membership a slate of candidates for each of the elective offices and directorship positions.

Strategic Planning Committee

Responsible for periodically updating the strategic plan and keeping the Association focused on its mission and goals.

Organizational Committees

The following committees were established to more effectively conduct of the Association's business.

Annual Meeting Program Host Committee

Responsible for providing local assistance and on-site arrangements for the Association’s Annual Meeting in areas such as hospitality, luncheon menus, and welcoming VIPs. The Committee also provides the “local spirit” of the meeting by making members, guests, and speakers feel welcome in their city.

Awards Committee

Responsible for establishing criteria and providing judging for the various awards programs available to AADE members.

Chapter Presidents Council

Responsible for providing a forum to facilitate communication between AADE Chapters and the national leadership, thus enhancing support of the association’s goals and the role of chapters within AADE.

Chapter Support Committee

Responsible for reviewing and making recommendations to Board of Directors on new chapter applications. Also, this committee assesses AADE chapters annually to determine if some are struggling, inactive or need to be disbanded.
