More than 4,000 diabetes educators and other healthcare professionals will
gather at the AADE13 Annual Meeting and Exhibition in Philadelphia, PA, August 7-10, 2013. The 40th
AADE Annual Meeting is anticipated to be a successful educational event and an opportunity to
exchange the latest information with diabetes educators from around the United States.
The Annual Meeting Program Committee invites you to submit an abstract to be
considered for presentation in Philadelphia. Interactions with colleagues on diabetes management
and education are the cornerstone to building communications that allow all of us to provide better
healthcare. Presenting at the 40th Annual Meeting is an excellent opportunity for you to share your
experiences with the diabetes education community. This year’s theme is The Point of Possible:
Relationships Build Strength and Opportunity.
Diabetes educators touch patients at various points across the continuum of
care: from diagnosis of either prediabetes or diabetes through treatment and advanced management.
Diabetes educators use skills that encompass prevention, treatment and chronic disease management,
as well as partnering with patients to enable them to achieve behavior change. Final selections
will be based on the quality and clarity of the abstract and topical relevance to the contemporary
practice environment of today’s diabetes educator.

Preparing the Abstract
The submission process is very detailed and requires the entry of very specific information
(including e-mail addresses of co-authors and conflict of interest disclosure information). User
unfamiliarity with the submission site and last minute rushes to submit work are the primary source
of error in the abstract submission process. For all technical questions regarding the online
submission process, please contact SierraBay technical support and customer service via the
submission site. Support is available Monday through Friday 9am - 5pm EST. If you have any
non-technical questions please e-mail
contentdevelopment@aadenet.org.
It is strongly suggested that you enter the submission site and begin your submission well
in advance of the deadline.
Policies
At least one of the presenters must be an AADE member. There is a limit of 4 presenters per
session. No speaker substitutions may be made after the abstract review process has been completed.
Individuals employed by industry (pharmaceutical or device companies) are not permitted to present,
