Program Objectives
  1. Demonstrate the applied principles of teaching, learning and behavior change
  2. Compare and contrast the natural history and pathophysiology of pre-diabetes, type 2 diabetes, diabetes during pregnancy and type 1 diabetes
  3. Discuss strategies to promote healthy eating for persons with diabetes or for persons at risk of acquiring diabetes
  4. Explore approaches to being active for persons with diabetes or at risk of acquiring diabetes
  5. Discuss types, tools, frequency, and targets of monitoring for persons with diabetes
  6. Explain techniques for promoting safe medication use in persons with diabetes
  7. Identify tactics to promote healthy coping for persons with diabetes
  8. Integrate approaches to reduce health risks in persons with diabetes
  9. Use an interactive learning environment to assimilate new knowledge and skills
Program Goals
  • To illustrate, through the case study approach, the progression of diabetes and clinical management and diabetes self-management education that are most appropriate for assuring successful outcomes to the AADE7 Self-Care Behaviors™
  • Provide an overview of, or current update on, the field of diabetes and diabetes self-management education.
