Becoming a Diabetes Educator

You must be a healthcare professional who has a defined role as a diabetes education. Practice as a diabetes educator is defined as being gainfully employed and providing professional care and self-management education to people with diabetes.



Information to help you prepare for one of the following credentials: 

Board Certified-Advanced Diabetes Management (BC-ADM): AADE's certification for advanced level practitioners.

Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE): fully administered and maintained by the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators (NCBDE).

CE Provider Approval

The AADE is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), the American Nurses Credentialing Center and the Commission on Accreditation (ANCC) and the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) in addition to the California Board of Registered Nursing (CBRN). 

Career Path Certificate Program

The AADE Career Path Certificate Program for diabetes self-management education is designed to provide a structure for training and education for healthcare providers involved in delivery of diabetes education and care.

The focus of the program is to prepare those new to the field and to support those in the early and mid-stages of their careers.
