This program will discuss recent changes in national treatment guidelines for care of people with type 2 diabetes and review the new treatment algorithm recommended in the American Diabetes Association's 2023 Standards of Care. It will provide a review of mechanism of action and efficacy of all the classes of non-insulin diabetes medications and their place in therapy and help diabetes care and education specialists design a treatment plan to improve management in people with type 2 diabetes.
Learning Outcome
The diabetes care team will have an increased knowledge of the appropriate medication recommendations based on person-specific factors and will be able to educate people with diabetes on each of their anti-hyperglycemic medications and what to expect.

- Understand/learn/review the mechanism of action, efficacy, and place in therapy for each of the blood glucose lowering agents
