Did you know that your virtual events can still offer CE?

It’s true, and the CE planning requirements are not much different. If you are hosting a virtual event and would like to offer CE, please indicate that your activity is virtual on the Activity Planning Document under location:

Next, you will want to select a platform to deliver the live virtual education: For example, Zoom Conferencing has free and affordable options for this purpose. Microsoft Teams could be an option if your organization has a Microsoft 365 account. GotoMeeting, Skype for Business and WebEx are viable options as well.

Also, be sure to create an electronic evaluation; Survey Monkey, Qualtrics, Proprofs, Microsoft Forms and Google Forms are all platforms to achieve this. Because we are not able to collect handwritten sign-in sheets for virtual events, additional questions will be required to be added to your evaluation to validate attendance, such as, a question asking the attendee’s professional designation (options to include nurse, pharmacist, dietitian or other), and pharmacists will need to include their DOB mmdd and epid number in the evaluation as well.

As you are planning, please keep in mind that virtual events must be live, and to comply with the Commission on Dietetic Registration live event requirements, a live Q&A must follow each session (if applying for credit per session) or one large Q&A session can be offered if you are requiring learners to attend the full event.

Your post activity documentation will be relatively the same as what you are accustomed to with in-person events, except with live virtual events, you will be required to submit an excel report with each  evaluation response (all above suggested platforms generate this for you). This report take the place of the ‘sign-in sheet’s for virtual events.

This may seem like a lot, but rest assured we are here to help. Once you submit your application as a virtual event we be sure to walk you through the necessary steps to successfully meet the accreditation requirements.
