A multi-pronged approach is required when you have a goal to enroll and keep Pack Health members engaged in a digital health coaching solution. There are many different strategies you can throw at an enrollment or retention problem, incentives being one of the most popular. However, in my experience, emphasizing the importance of building a relationship with the member is critical to keeping them engaged. Building relationship equity with a member can get you further faster and have ripple effects beyond retention.
But if we take a step back and focus on what a member wants in a health coach, one of the words that come to mind is "credibility." Who wouldn't want their health coach to be a credible resource when working towards better health?
To do this, we must focus on ways to equip our coaches with the knowledge and skills they need to help those managing their health. Our coaches, known as Health Advisors, are on the front lines and are who our members think of when they hear "Pack Health."
To accomplish this, we looked for a standard credential that could provide all Health Advisors with more than just the basic knowledge needed to interact with people who have type 2 diabetes. We also wanted our Health Advisors to feel a higher comfort level when educating about different topics related to type 2 diabetes management.
Pack Health partnered with ADCES Workforce Training to provide the ADCES Diabetes Paraprofessional II training to all Health Advisors in their first three weeks at Pack Health. Adding this training as a standard part of our onboarding process for new Health Advisors was an easy decision due to the training's validity and its purpose to provide an educational foundation for our coaches. Since our program for people with type 2 diabetes is one of our most popular offerings, we ensure every new Health Advisor completes this training.
Pack Health has built a company culture around innovation and improvement, and one way that we uphold that culture is by being life-long learners. ADCES provides one-of-a-kind training created and delivered by experts to help our Health Advisors feel better equipped to serve people managing type 2 diabetes.
