Latest Treatment Updates on Cardiometabolic Conditions and Diabetes Only at ADCES22

May 02, 2022

By Samuel S. Grossman, PharmD, PhD, CDCES, FADCESSam Grossman

With diabetes often comes a host of related complications. Diabetes care and education specialists (DCESs) don’t just treat diabetes ― they look at the full range of cardiometabolic conditions: diabetes obesity, hypertension and cardiac disorders. Cardiometabolic conditions encompass both microvascular and macrovascular damage, including but not limited to the eyes, kidneys, nerves and the cardiovascular system such as heart attack, stroke and insufficient blood flow to the legs.

ADCES22 has a dedicated education track to help you understand the management of cardiometabolic conditions in relation to diabetes. Explore different diabetes medications including SGLT-2 inhibitors and GLP-1 receptor agonists that are mentioned in the guidelines as preferred treatments. Evaluate efficacy and safety information reported in recent clinical study results and make recommendations for treatment in people with diabetes. Get the latest update in the treatment of peripheral neuropathy in the session Peripheral Neuropathy: An Update for the Diabetes Care and Education Specialist.

New to working with prediabetes? Diabetes self-management education and support (DSMES) programs are increasingly adding diabetes prevention to their list of services. With an overall move towards value-based care, the number of opportunities will continue to grow. I am especially looking forward to learning more about delivering diabetes prevention programs to special populations and how DCESs can contribute to their communities in the session, Advancing Public Health: How DCES Add Value to National, State, and Local Diabetes Initiatives.

In addition to all the amazing sessions, there will be expert keynote speakers, a huge exhibit hall and social networking events. After all the virtual meetings, I am looking forward to the opportunity for an in-person meeting to reconnect and network with diabetes care and education specialists from across the country. ADCES22 is the place to be this August – don’t miss out!
