Reimbursement: Part of the Healthcare Conversation

Feb 08, 2017

Understanding revenue cycles and billing processes are essential components of reimbursement. Billing cycles have several steps and require initiation of systems that enable efficiency, as well as repeated communications in order for issues to be resolved.

Common problems program managers face involve understanding and interpreting the information found in policies, coverage, and coding for Medicare.
AADE’s Diabetes Education Accreditation Program (DEAP) and Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) departments often field questions on reimbursement.

Among the most frequently asked questions are:

  • How should we maximize our program's reimbursement?
  • What is the best course of action for claims falsely denied by Medicare or a private payer?
  • How do we keep track of new coverage changes?
  • How can we add a DPP program as another source of revenue for our DSMES?

AADE members have access to a list of frequently asked reimbursement questions. Review the complete list on the members-only Ask The Reimbursement Expert Q&A page (free; login required). Members are also able to ask specific reimbursement questions via an online form.

Whether billing for services related to diabetes prevention, type one diabetes, type 2 diabetes or comorbidities, it is important to maximize the probability of successful reimbursement for your valuable services. This takes a proper road map.

Because AADE’s DEAP and DPP departments receive a high volume of inquiries from members on reimbursement, AADE has planned an in-depth Reimbursement Boot Camp to help members and their programs succeed. Learn more.
