Announcing a Change in Diabetes Education Accreditation Program (DEAP) Leadership

Sacha UelmenSacha Uelmen, RDN, CDE recently joined AADE to provide oversite of the Diabetes Education Accreditation Program (DEAP) and the Prevention area as the new Director of Diabetes Education and Prevention Programs. Sacha comes to AADE from the American Diabetes Association, where she held positions as the Director of Diabetes Education and Nutrition and the Education Recognition Program. Sacha brings a wealth of experience, having directed the University of Michigan Health System’s Adult Outpatient DSMES program and having led their CDC accredited Diabetes Prevention Program. Sacha is a certified insulin pump and CGM trainer, with additional certification in adult weight management. Her other areas of expertise are group facilitation and working with people with chronic kidney disease. She views her new position as an opportunity to provide ongoing inroads toward providing all people with and at risk for diabetes reasonable, affordable access and education to live a healthy life.

I am please to turn over the reigns of DEAP to Sacha and will be moving to a different department at AADE with a focus on content development. I look forward to working with all of you in moving our profession forward and making the Vision for the Profession come alive and reflected in our products and services.
