AADE Advocacy strongly encourages all Coordinating Body (CB) leaders to fill the important role of State Grassroots Coordinator (SGC). Advocacy is an integral part of the AADE mission and our members are on the front line advocating for better care for all people with diabetes both at the federal and state levels. It is important that we identify State Grassroots Coordinators for 2018 as soon as possible. SGC Description.

Each CB should already have, or be in the process of, identifying one individual who is passionate about advocacy and possesses a basic understanding of grassroots efforts. This individual will serve as SGC and will be trained by AADE staff and industry partners to be able to communicate legislative issues to their coordinating body, their diabetes community, fellow constituents and state and federal legislators.

As we look toward the future of advocating for diabetes educators and diabetes education we are excited to have this SGC designation and look forward to an information-filled 2018. We ask that all CB leaders send the name and contact information of their State Grassroots Coordinator to Kurt Anderson, Director of Federal and State Advocacy at kanderson@aadenet.org.
