This coming National Diabetes Education Week, November 5-11, will focus on how diabetes educators speak, how they get into the profession and the impact they have on their patients.
How they speak: We will be highlighting the recently released joint AADE and ADA paper offering language guidance for diabetes-related research, education and publications. Plan to participate in a Twitter Chat on this topic, led by one of the authors, Jane Dickinson, on Tuesday, November 7 at 9:00 p.m. EST.
How they get into the profession: We’ll hear from educators in some interesting practice settings. This will help to answer the age-old question, “How do I become a diabetes educator?” and, we hope, inspire some new thinking.
How they impact people living with diabetes: We’ll be featuring a new video developed by Katie Doyle, one of the International Diabetes Foundation’s Young Leaders in Diabetes. Funded by the AADE Foundation, this video showcases the impact educators have on those affected by diabetes.
