Highlighting Your Community of Interest (COI) or Coordinating Body (CB) at AADE18

May 15, 2018

It seems that 2018 just got underway, but it is already time to think about and plan for the annual conference, whether you choose activities that allow you to learn about new programs, new technology, new medications, or upcoming changes in the CDE profession itself. Some of the events at the annual meeting that involve the COI and CB groups include the poster session, the COI and CB Leader Meetings, and the COI and CB Networking Reception.

All COIs are encouraged to present a poster at the annual meeting. These posters give leaders an opportunity to highlight their COI and to meet and recruit members. Some COIs include current topics of discussion that the COI has engaged in that members of AADE might find interesting, some may include photos of COI leaders, and others may include educational materials.

The highlight of the year for volunteers is the COI and CB networking event that takes place on Thursday evening before the conference starts on Friday. This event is open to all members and is a great way for them to learn about all of the COIs and CBs, and for the COIs and CBs to recruit new members and future leaders. It is a time for new relationships to be forged and to reunite with old friends. Those who participate in this event go all out and there is always a good time to be had by all. Each group decorates their table (COIs) or brings their banner (CBs). Many provide giveaways or raffles (the buckeye balls were a big hit at the Ohio CB table and the granola from the Advanced Practice COI was really good). This year, there is a separate CB meeting on Thursday evening during the networking event from 5-6 pm.

The annual meeting is to elevate, innovate and motivate. It will be a time to put your passion into action! I look forward to seeing you all in Baltimore!
