Why Language Matters

Words can empower people and support self-management; they can also hurt and make living with a chronic condition more challenging. This belief fueled a microlearning video created by Mytonomy and released in June 2018 that interviews diabetes educators and people living with diabetes. 

The goal is to help people understand these language concepts and encourage healthcare providers to use person-centered, strength-based empowering language when speaking with and about people with diabetes and all chronic conditions.

 

Changing the Conversation

Released two months later by Mytonomy at AADE18, a new microlearning video explores how changing the conversation when speaking about diabetes and chronic conditions can change how people feel.
