Diabetes educators work in a variety of practice settings, including hospital outpatient departments, clinics, public health departments and physician practices. Some have their own practice, and others contract with one or more providers to offer diabetes education to patients in multiple practices. Most diabetes educators work within a program that has been accredited/recognized by either the American Association of Diabetes Educators or the American Diabetes Association.
