AADE offers a streamlined quality accreditation process that increases the feasibility of expanding diabetes education services into diverse community settings. Accreditation instructions, sample documents, and the initial application can be found here.

Announcement to all New and Renewing Programs:

One Complimentary AADE Membership

All new and renewing DEAP programs receive one complimentary one-year AADE membership at the time of their accreditation or renewal. The free membership benefit may be used by the DSME program coordinator or instructor of your choice. Instructions for signing up will be provided by DEAP staff.

We've defined sites to better meet the needs of your programs. This makes identifying, marketing, and reimbursing your sites easier.

Accredited Programs

AADE began accrediting diabetes education programs in the fall of 2008.

Additional Resources

DEAP's policies and procedures provide specific information that help to clarify the various requirements and processes relating to issues such as site visits, reaccreditation, appeals and complaints.

Change of Status

When an already accredited program under goes a significant change in their program, they must notify the AADE within 30 days of the change.

Annual Status

On an annual basis, your program will need submit an Annual Status Report.


Accredited programs need to apply for reaccreditation every four years. Review our tools for maintaining your status.
