This clinical webinar is intended to provide an overview of the unmet medical need for people with diabetes, despite advancements in treatment and technology. Discussion will be held around the opportunity to achieve diabetes patient treatment goals in terms of time in range (TIR) and A1c while managing hypoglycemia and challenges from subcutaneous insulin.

Discussion will include patient case study of an actual person with diabetes on inhaled insulin and stories of other inhaled insulin users.

Diana Isaacs, PharmD, BCPS, BC-ADM, BCACP, CDCES, FADCES, FCCP is endocrine clinical pharmacist and the Director of Education and Training in Diabetes Technology and the Director of Endocrine Disorders in Pregnancy at the Cleveland Clinic Endocrinology and Metabolism Institute. Dr. Isaacs earned her bachelor's degree in Chemistry from the University of Illinois at Chicago, Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) and completed a pharmacy practice residency at the Philadelphia VA. Dr. Isaacs holds board certifications in pharmacotherapy, ambulatory care, and advanced diabetes management. She served on the American Diabetes Association (ADA) Professional Practice Committee from 2019-2022, the committee that updates the ADA Standards of Care. She is currently a National Board Member of the Association of Diabetes Care and Education Specialists (ADCES).  She advocates access and choice to the latest technologies and therapeutics for all people with diabetes and speaks on diabetes related topics nationally and internationally. Dr. Isaacs is a Fellow in ADCES and the American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP). She was the ADCES Diabetes Care and Education Specialist of the Year in 2020 and inducted into the SIUE Hall of Fame in 2022 for her far-reaching contributions in diabetes care.

Natalie Bellini, DNP, FNP-BC, BC-ADM, CDCES is the Program Director Diabetes Technology and Endocrine Nurse Practitioner at University Hospitals in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Bellini earned her bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Drexel University and Family Nurse Practitioner and Doctor of Nursing Practice from D’Youville University. Dr. Bellini holds board certifications as a family nurse practitioner and in advanced diabetes management. She has published studies on topics including the use of GLP-1 agonists in patients with Type 1 diabetes and using technology in diabetes management. She has been a speaker nationally and internationally regarding diabetes management and the impact of technology on diabetes care and outcomes.

Joanne Rinker is a Master's level dietitian and has been a registered dietitian and certified diabetes care and education specialist for over 20 years.  In 2022, she passed her Board Certification as an Advanced Diabetes Manager.  Rinker worked on the implementation and facilitation of the North Carolina Diabetes Education Recognition Program.  As the program coordinator, Joanne was instrumental in building the largest American Diabetes Association (ADA) recognized site in the nation.  

In 2012, Joanne was named the American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) 2013 Diabetes Educator of the Year and used that opportunity to spread the word about the relationship between diabetes, hearing loss and depression.  She served on the ADCES Board of Directors 2015-2017 and became an ADCES Spokesperson in January of 2016.  In 2017, Joanne left the ADCES Board to accept the position of Senior Director of Practice, Content and Learning.  She worked to expand and revise current practice resources, update and create more interactive educational offerings and oversee content for each ADCES annual conference. Joanne is the Associate Director of Medical Education at Mannkind Corp.  Her role includes overseeing CME events and opportunities, building relationships with external partner, serving as the liaison for the field team and the medical education team and building a medical education strategy.
